Introduction

Welcome to the Introduction to Osteopathy in the Cranial Field course, designed specifically for physiotherapists and medical doctors seeking to expand their knowledge and skills in the field of cranial osteopathy. This comprehensive three-module course will provide you with a solid foundation in the historical background, functional anatomy, evaluation techniques, and evidence-based manual approaches in cranial osteopathy. Through a combination of theoretical knowledge and practical application, you will gain a deeper understanding of the craniosacral approach and its relevance to various physiological systems and pathologies.
By the end of this course, you will be equipped with the necessary tools to incorporate cranial osteopathy into your clinical practice effectively.Welcome to the Introduction to Osteopathy in the Cranial Field course, designed specifically for physiotherapists and medical doctors seeking to expand their knowledge and skills in the field of cranial osteopathy. Learning objectives

  • Explain the historical foundation, current scientific understanding, and evidence supporting the craniosacral approach in osteopathy.
  • Describe the functional anatomy of the cranial meninges and its connections to the skull, spine, and sacrum.
  • Evaluate the cranial rhythmic impulse and apply general techniques for assessment and treatment.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the functional anatomy of the posterior cranial fossa, including its connections to the cervical spine and temporomandibular joint (TMJ).
  • Apply evidence-informed manual approaches to manage middle ear inflammation, inflammation of the anterior cranial fossa and visual system, using specific techniques.

These learning objectives encompass the key elements from all three modules, focusing on the overarching knowledge and skills that participants will gain throughout the course.
